The Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education provides Alaska's students with low-cost education loans for college and career training. These loans can supplement funding when the cost of attendance is not covered by federal or gift aid.
The Alaska Supplemental Education Loan provides funding to cover educational expenses for qualified students attending postsecondary institutions in Alaska, and qualified Alaska residents attending postsecondary institutions outside Alaska.
The Alternative Consolidation Loan allows students to consolidate all of their current ACPE alternative loans into a single fixed-rate loan.
Career-specific loans are provided to help individuals gain the education to work in professions with a shortage of qualified professionals in Alaska or regions of Alaska. Borrowers are obligated to repay the loan in full when they complete their education, but may have options to earn full and/or partial forgiveness of the loan balance.
Through the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE), Alaska participates in student exchange and access programs to provide higher education opportunities while improving the variety of courses available to Alaskans. For the Professional Student Exchange Program (PSEP), ACPE offers the Professional Student Exchange (PSE) Loan.
